Josiah Stevenson AIA Honor Award Jury Chair

Josiah Stevenson FAIA, LEED AP BD+C led the 2016 AIA Institute Honor Award Jury as the Jury Chair and helped to select the 11 well-deserving projects.

The Institute Honor Awards program recognizes achievements for a broad range of architectural activity to elevate the general quality of architecture practice, establish a standard of excellence against which all architects can measure performance, and inform the public of the breadth and value of architecture practice.  See the award winners here.

Leers Weinzapfel Receives Honorable Mention for Peace Corps Design

Jane Weinzapfel and Yu-Liang Hsu were awarded an Honorable Mention for their design for the Peace Corps National Commemorative Design Competition.

The two-stage, national design competition aimed to select an artistically exceptional design concept for a permanent commemorative work in the heart of Washington, DC. The competition provided designers from all across the United States an opportunity to create a compelling work of public art that will be bold and inspirational.  Read more about the competition and the finalists here

 

Leers Weinzapfel Associates Ranked #9 in ARCHITECT 50

Leers Weinzapfel Associates has been recognized by ARCHITECT Magazine as one of the Top 50 design firms in the U.S. as part of the 2015 ARCHITECT 50 list. Tom Chung, AIA, Presents at Wood First Forum

Tom Chung, AIA, presented “Integrated Design Building; First Composite Cross Laminated Timber Building In Northeast USA” at the BC Wood, Wood First Forum in Whistler, British Canada on September 10th, 2015.  The presentation focused on the University of Massachusetts-Amherst new Integrated Design Building, the the first composite CLT building in the northeast US.

Andrea and Jane at AIA New York’s Cocktails & Conversations

Andrea Leers and Jane Weinzapfel were the featured speakers at the AIA New York’s Cocktails and Conversations event in September at the Center for Architecture. Susan Szenasy, Editor-in-Chief of Metropolis Magazine moderated the discussion. This series of dialogues about design pairs a notable architect with a recognized critic, journalist, curator, or architectural historian to discuss current architecture and other design issues.  Custom-crafted cocktails inspired by the architect’s work were created during the event by Mixologist Eben Klemm.

OSU Chiller Water Plant featured on Dezeen

The Ohio State East Regional Chilled Water Plant was featured on Dezeen June 30, 2015. MGH Museum in Architectural Digest

The Museum of Medical History & Innovation at Mass General Hospital was featured as one of Architectural Digest’s 15 favorite copper buildings worldwide. The piece highlighted the building’s handcrafted recycled copper cladding and copper fritted windows. Read about it here
